How PaceRank works

One screen, four tabs, and a single idea that ties them all together. Here's everything you can do — and a few "what if?" runs to try.

One idea: everything updates instantly

Scroll any wheel — flick it up or down like a slot machine — and every other value recalculates on the spot. Set a time and watch your pace, speed, and race rank follow. Set a pace and watch your finish time appear. Switch between miles and kilometres anytime and all values convert instantly. There's nothing to submit and nothing to lose.

The four tabs

Every screen, explained

Move between Calculator, Splits, Races, and Settings from the tab bar at the bottom of the app.

PaceRank calculator screen

Tab 1 Calculator

The heart of the app. Pick a distance at the top, then set any two of time, pace, and speed — the third solves itself. As you scroll, the “You'd finish” line at the bottom ranks your projected time against a real race.

    PaceRank splits screen

    Tab 2 Splits

Plan a smarter race. Set a target pace and a negative-split percentage, then choose how often you want a split. PaceRank lays out the exact pace and cumulative time for each segment — start slightly slower, finish faster, same average.

      Tab 3 Races

See where you'd land. Pick any of 107 real races and PaceRank ranks your time live against the actual field — with your position, the full finish-time distribution, and the median and winning times for context.

        PaceRank settings distances screen

        Tab 4 Settings

Make it yours. Manage the list of distances that appear in the calculator, edit their exact values, or add your own event for that unusual ultra or local race with a non-standard distance.

          Try it yourself

          “What if?”

The fun part. Each of these takes a few flicks of the wheel. Examples use miles — switch units anytime and the answers convert.
