Yas Ishibashi is a passionate interpreter of the Great American Songbook. Her alto voice is often compared to Karen Carpenter, but she sings the repertoire of Sarah Vaughan. Yas began
her musical journey in Tokyo at the esteemed Kunitachi Music College and came to the US to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In October 2024, Yas won the 50th Yoyogi Naru Vocal Competition in Tokyo! Her most recent album, Reminiscence was recorded with New York and Tokyo musicians in the US and Japan. In the past year she has given two CD release concerts, one at the David Friend Recital Hall and the other at the “All of Me” Jazz club in Tokyo. Yas has performed as the headline performer in Jazz concerts in Boston and Tokyo, but she also enjoys playing Jazz at smaller venues like hotels, private parties, and assisted-living communities.
