CNC Cookbook: Devoted to Fanatically Loyal Customers

I've been in the software business for 26 years. The first thing I noticed looking at software for machinists was that it didn't follow the best practices of the broader software markets, and it didn't seem to recognize the needs of the machinist in many fundamental ways.
Being a machinist is a tough business.  Margins are thin and competition is intense.  You need great software that you can afford.  Software that makes your life easier, and helps you to be more successful.  Software that gives you an edge.
We write CNCCookbook's software to give you that edge in six simple ways:
We never charge for CNCCookbook software until its better than anything else you could buy.
We believe in giving our software away until it’s ready to be sold.  We do this to get your feedback and help in making it the best software of its kind that there is. Why pay for software that isn't great?
Since our software is better than anything else, we’ll charge a premium for it.  But, you won’t pay that premium for years.
We don’t believe in forcing you to pay a fortune in up-front fees.  Our software is sold by subscription, so you give us payment as you get value, and not before.  Over a period of years, you will wind up paying us more than you would have if you could’ve paid a fixed upfront fee.  But you will be paying less for years before you reach that point. It’s up to us to keep you happy with Great Software and Great Service until we can make our fair share, so we're incented to keep making the software even better.  We think that’s how it ought to be.
Everything we make goes back into delivering more software, back to customers, or back to the online community that introduced you to CNCCookbook.
We don’t have a big marketing or sales department.  We don’t spend a lot of money on advertising. We’re focused on building great software, and on giving back to our customers through our affiliate program.  We depend on our customers to tell others about our software so we can get new customers.  What little advertising we do will be done in the online communities that introduced you to CNCCookbook.
This is the Internet Age.  We’ll take advantage of it every way we can.
Our software is online and connected by design.  It upgrades itself when new features are available so you always have the latest and greatest.  It helps our customers to share information with each other that makes them more productive.  It helps us to constantly stay connected to our customers.  Most importantly, the Internet lets every customer of every product tell the world just what they think of those products.  This puts the customer in the driver’s seat, right where they ought to be. Our online User's Club puts our users in touch with each other and with us so they can get help quickly.
       We’re not spammers.
We will never give away your contact information to any organization.  We will not send you email unless you tell us we can by opting in.   Any email we send is more about passing on valuable information than selling you anything.
We’ll never be a giant company.  We are focused on the needs of the little guy.  CNCCookbook depends on your fanatical loyalty.
Only great customers can help us create really great software.  Our customers are our only investors, and we pay back that investment in every way we can.  We answer to our customers, not some outside investors. Heck, we started out writing software for ourselves so we could get something that really worked well and did things the others couldn't.

      Sincerely,
