Getting Started with AlomWare Toolbox

Welcome!  Congratulations: You're about to boost your productivity and make your PC easier to use in ways you never thought possible. Please take the time to read the below information carefully to ensure you encounter no teething problems when initially using the app. When finished reading, the first two things you should try out are the Power Menu, and the Automation tab for creating your own automated actions to run from a hotkey or other trigger. Have fun!

Preparing for first use:  The app name for AlomWare Toolbox is "Toolbox.exe" and you may need to add this to your anti-virus software's "white list" or "exclusions" list. This is because some anti-virus apps and Windows (the OS) may accidentally perceive "Toolbox.exe" as malicious because it can do things like auto-type for you and auto-position windows. Therefore, you may need to add "Toolbox.exe" as an exclusion in the Security settings of Windows, and/or also in your anti-virus app. For your reference, Figure 1 below shows where to white-list "Toolbox.exe" in Windows 10.

When you first double-click "Toolbox.exe" to run the app, you might get a warning that Windows has "protected your PC" (Figure 2). This can happen because you haven't run the app on this PC before, and is not a cause for concern. To fix this, first click the "More info" link in the warning, and then click the "Run anyway" button to allow it to run (also Figure 2).

You should always try and run AlomWare Toolbox with administrator rights if possible (double-click item A in Figure 3), as this solves 99% of usability problems because due to allowing the app to interact with and work on all windows and apps on your PC, and gives access to all files that you may want to work with. If you run AlomWare Toolbox with standard rights, then it won't be able to interact with and work on any other windows that have administrator rights, leading you to wonder why nothing's happening with those windows. It also means the app won't be able to access some areas of your C: drive, such as the file-watching feature in the Files tab. These are not bugs with AlomWare Toolbox but rather rights issues imposed by the Operating System.
